Here’s a couple of interesting videos, which illustrate how Rolly responses to different types of audio and how you adjust the sound volume on Rolly. On the first video the effect of stereo sound becomes particularly apparent with the talking voices talking to different channels.

On the second video, you can see the sound volume control method. I personally like how the thing rotates back to it’s original position after volume adjustment.

One of the biggest questions floating around Sony Rolly sceptics has been, that “how do you fit an egg-shaped player in your pocket?”. The answes is: you wont.
Rolly will be sold with a moulded carrying pouch, which will carry your personal music player with you clipped tightly on your belt.

Now one thing about Sony Rolly is finally certain - it is a digital audio player. This information was published on the Official Sony Rolly Blog, which does not really leave room for doubt anymore. The blog also claims that Rolly will have only one button, which is used forplay/stop functions of the device.
Also, the reporters at the talked to some Sony high level executive, who told them, that Rolly is “a digital media player designed to extend the function of a Walkman-type device - to create a new category. Think of it as a music-focused Wii on wheels”
Sounds extremely interesting, I would say!

In spite of the extremely authentic looking video and a real looking photograph of Sony Rolly robot, which appeared on Engadget blog a few days ago, Sony is not willing to comment the newly surfaced material in any manner. Sylvia Shin from Sony Europe’s Corporate communications would not confirm or deny the existence of such device, while the matter was enquired by an Engadget reporter.
So, we really can’t do anything but sit and wait until further information surfaces. I suppose that the forthcoming Sony Rolly Party held on the 10th of September in Japan will bring more light on the matter the latest.

Yesterday Sony finally released a picture and a video displaying what Sony Rolly is all about (well, at least you see what the the cool stuff what Rolly does to beat of music). Rolly is a small flashing robot on two wheels, that “dances” to the rythm of music. What remains a mystery is, whether the Rolly actually plays the music itself, or if it only responses to it. My bet is, that it also plays the music itself through its built-in speakers. Also, would be interesting to know about the size of this grooving thing. Anyway you can see the tiny robot fella in action on the commercial video below.

What ever features the Rolly will eventually have, the little “guy” appears to be an extremely cool gadget as it is! As soon as we know more, we will also post it up here - so be sure to stay tuned! (If you want to be sure to stay up to date, you can always subscribe to the Rolly.tv RSS feed!)
